Cuzo is a budgeting and bill-splitting app run by Vaibhav Arora in India. This policy explains what we collect when you use Cuzo, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, write to team@cuzo.app.
What we collect
- Your account: your name and email address, and a sign-in through Google or a password, handled by Firebase Authentication. We never see your Google password.
- What you enter: expenses, categories, budgets, income, recurring bills and your preferences, such as your currency. You type all of this in; we do not connect to your bank to collect it.
- Crews: expenses you add to a Crew, the Crew's name, its members and who has settled up with whom. If you add a way to be paid back (a UPI ID, a Venmo username, or the email or phone number your Zelle uses), it is shown to the people in your Crews so they can pay you; you can remove it at any time, and it is removed from a Crew when you leave it. Payments happen in your own UPI, Venmo or bank app; we never see them.
- Payments: if you buy a paid plan, Razorpay (Indian rupees) or PayPal (US dollars) processes the payment. We receive and keep the plan, its status, the amount and the renewal date. We never receive or store your card number, UPI PIN, PayPal password or bank login.
- Usage: how the app is used (for example, which screens are opened and when an expense is added), through Google Analytics for Firebase. This is linked to a random account ID, not to your name or email, and amounts are sent only as rough ranges, never as the figures you enter.
- Notifications: if you turn on push notifications, the address your browser gives us for delivering them.
- Messages to us: if you send a bug report, your email, your message, the page you were on, your browser and your screen size.
Why we use it
- To run Cuzo: save your data, show your budgets and reports, and split Crew expenses.
- To take payment for paid plans, and to keep your plan active, renewed or cancelled as you choose.
- To send emails you would expect: a welcome email, account and billing messages, and product updates. You can stop product updates at any time from Account → Preferences.
- To understand how Cuzo is used, so we can fix problems and improve it.
- To answer you when you write to us, and to meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who can see your data
- You. Your own expenses, budgets and income are visible only to you.
- Your Crews. Members of a Crew see the expenses and settlements in that Crew, and the names of the other members. They do not see anything outside it.
- Service providers that process data for us, only to provide their service: Google (Firebase for sign-in, storage, hosting and server functions, and Google Analytics), Razorpay and PayPal (payments), Zoho (sending email), your browser's push service (notifications), and Web3Forms (delivering bug reports to us).
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
Some of these providers store and process data outside India, including in the United States.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account from Account → Preferences, we delete your profile and everything you have entered, and cancel any paid plan so you are not charged again. Expenses you added to a Crew remain part of that Crew's shared record for its other members.
We keep payment records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, even after an account is deleted.
Your choices and rights
- Get a copy: export your expenses as a CSV file from the Expenses page.
- Correct it: edit anything you have entered, at any time.
- Delete it: delete your account from Account → Preferences.
- Stop emails and notifications: from Account → Preferences, or the unsubscribe link in any update email.
- Ask us anything else, including any right you have under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, by writing to team@cuzo.app.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with Google Firebase, behind sign-in. Only you can read your own data; payment details stay with Razorpay or PayPal. No system is perfectly secure, so if we ever learn of a breach affecting your data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Children
Cuzo is meant for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has signed up, tell us and we will delete the account.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
